Skincare for Professional Makeup Wearers

by | Jan 16, 2017 | Makeup Products

If you’re in film or perform on stage, you likely wear professional makeup on a regular basis. Over time, you may have noticed issues with your skin, such as breakouts or blackheads from wearing professional makeup. While television and stage makeup is far less cakey than in the past, there are some things you can do to help keep your skin looking great after the makeup comes off.

  1. Choose the right makeup. All professional makeup is not created equal. Choose a formula for your skin type and choose a brand that does not clog pores. It may be necessary to try several brands before you try one that works well with your skin, but there are some great professional makeup brands that are good for your skin.
  2. Cleanse thoroughly. Many makeup removers fail to remove all traces o makeup from your skin. Be sure to get your skin absolutely clean each time you remove your makeup. Remove professional makeup as soon as you are finished working, as well.
  3. Go bare. Skin needs time to breathe, so it’s always a good idea to go without any makeup at all when you can.
  4. Use treatment products as needed. Acne prone skin may need acne medication to keep breakouts at bay. Nearly everyone needs moisturizer, but be sure to pick one that’s right for your skin type. A good skincare routine is especially important when you wear professional makeup regularly.

If you still have skin issues after following the tips above, consult a makeup professional for help in choosing the right makeup and the right makeup remover. Using the right products makes a huge difference in the condition of your skin. Professional makeup need not cause skin issues, so long as you choose it carefully and care for your skin appropriately.
