What To Expect From a Low-Residency MFA Program?

by | Jul 4, 2024 | Education

Progressive schools recognize that many students have work, family, and community obligations that they can’t simply abandon when pursuing graduate degrees. For this reason, the low-residency MFA program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) has been designed for artists and writers who are ready to build their education without having to relocate or attend strictly in-person classes.

Within the low-residency MFA program, students have access to the school’s resources even when they don’t live on campus. Students also get the opportunity to collaborate with a rotating group of globally acclaimed artists, writers, curators, critics, and historians.

Members of the program get to work with an SAIC alumni mentor in their vicinity, as well, along with advisors at SAIC. Here, students can expand their knowledge and skills without sacrificing other important parts of their life.
